SC Governor - Mark Sanford will kick off Paws for Cancer Event.

Paws for Cancer to benefit The American Cancer Society

The 8th Annual Paws for Cancer Race will be held at the Odell Weeks Recreation Center on Saturday, May 5th 2007 starting at 8:00 am.  This is a 1 mile Dog Walk to pay tribute and promote awareness to those affected by cancer, including pets.  Registration fee is $15 per dog.   All proceeds benefit The American Cancer Society.

In some way cancer has or will touch all of us within our lifetime. By taking part in Paws for Cancer, we as a community, have the opportunity to honor loved ones and help raise funds to continue the battle against cancer.

We are expecting a larger crowd this years since we are being honored by SC Governor – Mark Sanford - who will kick off our race with opening remarks and will help us celebrate the people (and pets) who have fallen victims to this terrible disease.

To register or to become a sponsor stop by Veterinary Services 1721 Whiskey Road, Aiken (across Odell Weeks Center) or visit www.AikenPetVet.com click on “Giving from the Heart” 803-648-5489

Paws For Cancer, May 6, 2006

Aiken Pet Sitters sponsored three clients in the 2006 edition of Paws For Cancer; Howie, Baby Bear, and Squirt.  Paws For Cancer is a canine walk-a-thon fundraiser for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, and is organized by Dr. Holly Woltz of Veterinary Services in Aiken.

It was a fantastic event with lots of great dogs - and people!  Photographers from the Aiken Standard and Augusta Chronicle were taking pictures.  I found this one on the Chronicle's web page spotted.augusta.com.  I wish Squirt and Joe had been here for the photo op too!

It was a fantastic experience!  I learned a lot about excellence in professional pet sitting and am thrilled to share it with my clients.

I am now certified in Pet First Aid and CPR.
